now. >> pam: breaking news tonight at five. san francisco police right now. investigating a shooting. this happened just before 4- pm, the victim found on the corner of market and davis streets. after being shot more than a mile away. at this hour -- muni service is being diverted. kron 4's terisa estacio is live at the scene -- terisa what is happening right now? >> reporter: this is very much a developing situation. i want you to focus your attention on this car. they are telling this off of market street. market street is shutdown. they are going to tow this car. there was a shooting about four blocks away with three people, involved. one person was shot. the passenger was the

person that was shot. the driver looked are run for a hospital but somehow ended up on market street. they pulled off to the side is that is when police surrounded the vehicle. the hospital administrators are dealing with them now. in the meantime they have taken the driver to police headquarters to taken into the headquarters to question him. they are still searching for the third suspect in this is shooting that took place 4:00 p.m. this afternoon they say that it was a top priority to get this scene returned to normal. you can see our cameras capturing the scene, and taking the car

investigation is ongoing. this is the eighth homicide of the year in the san jose. now at five ♪ a powerful farewell to fallen santa cruz police detectives butch baker and beth butler. the memorial at san jose's h=p pavilion filled with peace officers from across the state, the emotional peak coming as butler's young son wore his mother's police cap while his father delivered a passionate farewell. and justin waldman is live outside of the scene at the service. justine? >> reporter: they came

united to honor the slain officers. the emotions inside were carried from outside. right after the memorial service and all of the law enforcement agencies formed a tunnel. and the cars that were carrying the families. hundreds of them were in a salute as the cars drove by. there was also a fly over with one half dozen helicopters. many enforcement up and down california from the bay area and even in neighboring states. here to pay their respects. i spoke with officers including the deputy from the santa cruz. who gave the eulogy about what they thought of the service and how it will forever change them. >> it is a beautiful ceremony and a fitting tribute. i happen to know

coming up. >> another powerful storm is battering much of the east coast. from virginia to maine. the impact is easy to see. check it out. you can only see the top of this fire hydrant in in virginia beach. heavy rains combined with high tide caused wide- spread flooding. there were also downed trees and thousands of power outages. a coastal flood warning remains in place in parts of virginia until tomorrow afternoon. we move north. where the jesey shore is getting slammed again. flooded streets in ocean city, new jersey. many jersey shore communities were devastated by superstorm sandy.and rebuilding is ongoing. so this is not what they need. this video is from sea bright new jersey. flooding there has closed the main drag through town. and businesses are suffering water damage.

>> pam: now for today's market update. stocks continue to climb on wall street for a fifth straight day-- pushing the dow jones industrial average farther into record territory. previous all-time high two points at 14-thousand- 329. the nasdaq jumped nine points closing at three- thousand-232 and the s and p rose nearly three points to close at one-thousand-544-- which is about 20 points away from its own record high close. for the u-s job market. dipped to 340,000 last week, according to the labor department. that's 7,000 less than the week before. the numbers are hovering at

>> pam: the average cost for a gallon of regular has dropped to 4-20. although not much -- that's down some. here's a look at what drivers are paying in the bay area. san francisco: $4.24. san jose: $4.16. oakland. $4.14. all those prices down a couple cents from last week.

>> with gas prices still pretty high -- volkswagen says they have a new hybrid that gets 261-miles per gallon. carl azuz breaks it down for us. volkswagen's coming out with a new hybrid car that the company claims would get the equivalent of 261 miles per gallon! considering that the standard toyota prius gets around 50. this is significant. but this doesn't mean that the x-l-1, as it's being called, will get you across the country without stopping. between battery and diesel power, vw says, it'll go about 310 miles total. which is about 90 miles less than your average sedan on a full tank of gas. but the xl-1's engine only needs about 2.6 gallons of diesel to fill it. so a fill-up today's prices would cost about 11 bucks. it's incredibly aerodynamic-- significantly more so than a chevy corvette, for example-- and it certainly looks futuristic. but it's not fast. it'll take over 12 seconds to get you from zero to 60. its top speed will be about 100 miles per hour. though of course none of us would

(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. >> pam: at six we start with a developing story. right now -- san jose police are investigating the city's eighth homicide of the year. this just in -- police say the man stabbed to death has been identified. as stanley jacobson -- this is his photo. who was reported missing back on february 18th. police say the victim's family members found him inside his apartment. his apartment located on ironwood drive. this is video of the scene from our helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7 news. kron4's alecia reid joins us live from san jose over the phone. alecia -- we're hearing reports police have arrested a suspect? >> reporter: yes, they have are arrested someone. they

will not release the name who has been detained. the search and they did find him dead inside of his apartment today. this 911 call came in today friends are shocked of this news. they say that he was a very happy and friendly guy who had people laughing. however he started acting strange when he started dating a girl friend. when he went missing the starte searching for both the were thinking that he could have been possibly a victim of
